As this week was the Easter break there have been no lectures or workshops to complete. I decided to continue to research for resources for my assignment. I used Google to find a website that went into detail about why computers are important in a drama classroom with is where I was able to find a website for a New South Wales department of Education and Communities that has a page included about what can be achieved with a laptop in the drama classroom which otherwise could not be accomplished. I feel the ideas that this website had would be very effective to use in a classroom and would definitely help with reflecting on drama related performances and research.
I began my search for a video about technology in a drama classroom but was unable to find one that was educational rather then for fun. So I looked for a conference paper instead which I found on Google. I was able to find a conference paper from Kim Flintoff a Perth Drama teacher who discusses with the others where technology can be effective with teaching drama. I found it interesting to see how technology can be use before, during, after and in drama performances. I recall using my computer at home to research tips that would be useful for the play to make it seem more realistic but having a computer in the classroom with me would have allowed me to look up the information there so I could put it into practice at that time.
I have decided that I will try to find any newspaper articles that discuss teaching drama with technology in the classroom. As I feel that drama is sometimes not seen as important because it is not a main subject. Drama is an elective subject in which students have the choice to participate in but I think it can sometimes teach you more than other subjects.

Today is the last in-class lecture and workshop for three weeks. Guest speaker Rob Phillips discussed computers and what the advertising really means when discussing computers. I had never understood what RAM, Processor and GHz stood for and after this lecture I had a very small understanding of it. The class was very active and I found myself moving around the room to understand the way a computer works for effectively. The lecture was informative but I don't think I could comprehend the inf...

This week classes were back on campus. Our lecture began by discussing the assignment that is due on Friday and how we are all going with it. Continuing on from lecture three we discussed authentic learning in more detail and how being an authentic teacher can help the students to gain more knowledge and remember the information that they received from the class. We then discussed the next assignment that is due in week 10 which focuses on referencing and using Endnote. I have been using Endn...

This week was study week and although I was glad to have a break I decided to finish the draft of this assignment as soon as possible do that my peer can review it. By the Monday I had posted my draft online and finished the first three blogs and felt proud of the progress so far. When the peer reviews came up I felt nervous, not because someone was judging my work but because I was judging someone else's. I was worried that I would mark it and not see anything wrong with it or that my work w...

This week we discussed teaching with technology and how to make it authentic in the classroom. The lecture was interesting to watch as our lecturers used examples for the movie 'School of Rock' to show how being an authentic teaching can educate the students more than an unauthentic lesson. In the lecture, the word pedagogy was used which I had never heard before and therefore was confused about what it meant. We were provided with a definition which was the function or work of a teacher or t...

This week in the lecture and workshop we focused on blogs and what needs to be included in them to achieve a greater grade. Blogs can be used for reflecting on previous experiences in or out of the classroom, they can help you to discuss what happened and how you can reflect on it and make it better next time. I have never used a blog before but I have used reflective journals to writing down the situation and what can be done to make the class more beneficial to the students. I enjoy being a...

This week was my first week back at university after the long summer break. In EDN113 we are learning about technology and how it can be used in the classroom to benefit children. In the workshop we are using the smartboard and as I am studying early childhood and primary education I know how important technology can be to help a child to learn. Learning about the smartboard and what it can be used for will definitely help in the way that I will teach in the future as then I will be able t...
